Building a better home, together.

Innovative Modern Bee Home Designed for Urban Pollinators

Bees are some of the most vital pollinators in the world, and animals we cannot take for granted.

Unveiled at Milan Design Week by London-based studio LAYER, Host is a modular bee home intended to support pollinators in dense urban environments where green infrastructure is limited.

Two stylish storage units resembling stacked boxes, one with an orange top and a textured tan bottom, and the other with a green top and layered black sections.

Designed for both the bee and its beekeeper, the wheeled home has ergonomic, swiveling structures that allow for easy access to the hive, and the resulting honey.

The design combines functional nesting structures with aesthetic minimalism. Clean wood construction make this a thing of beauty, inviting more people into the conversation of beekeeping.

Made in partnership with Andreu World, a Spanish furniture brand, Host highlights a collaboration between industrial design and sustainable living ethics.

We love the overall look and feel, and the way it exemplifies LAYER’scommitment to designing thoughtful solutions that enrich cities and their ecosystems.

“By highlighting the critical role of bees, Host reminds us that thoughtful design can protect our fragile ecosystem.

It offers a vision of a future where craftsmanship nurtures nature, ensuring resilience and balance between human innovation and the environment.”

In essence, Host represents a vision for design as an agent of ecological balance in the urban matrix.
