Building a better home, together.

Check Out This Ultra Minimalist Home on Japan’s Miyako Island

Located in Japan’s Okinawa prefecture, Miyako Island is known for pristine beaches, caves, and bright blue waters. Artist Moriko Mori teamed up with Ring Architects to create the Yuputira Residence, an ultra-minimalist home that reflects the artist’s unique style.

The super sleek, convex shape appears almost like a pure white shell, with sculpted forms and circular skylights throughout.

With barely a straight angle within it, the striking home has stunning views of the ocean beyond, and is a study in zen and restrained design.

‘Known for her focus on luminescent, translucent and ultra-minimalist aesthetics, Mariko has created a home that is as much a sculpture as it is a dwelling. The design draws inspiration from the bleached shells scattered along the island’s pristine shores, creating a sense of harmony with the surrounding landscape.’
